Star 6 applicaton for I-Phones

Our friend Jason Forrest lately got into creating an IPhone application that I can really reccommend.
Its the world's first fully-featured sample manipulation instrument for I-Phone and its really a lot of fun.
You can manipulate your audiofiles via Pitch, Gate, Sample Size, Sample Order, Randomness and speed all indepently of one another. To get an impression of what it does watch the video. Actually, I think its something really cool to get for your I-Phone.

CLASHMAG Podcast with SHIR KHAN: presenting EXPLOITED RECORDS Showcase

Just made a mix for english mag CLASH. This mix contains a lot of material from my label EXPLOITED - some of that can be heard on my upcoming Mix-CD SHIR KHAN - EXPLOITED out September 14th. Some other stuff will be released later.
This is how CLASH announced the mix:

"This week we have something rather special and painfully exclusive for you all. Berlin-based label boss, DJ and producer, Shir Khan here presents a showcase mix of his Exploited Records label for Clash, featuring brand new and classic material, and some exclusive preview tracks from an upcoming Exploited Records compilation (‘Exploited’, released on 14 September), again mixed by Khan and featuring some of the label’s finest moments.

A born and bred Berliner, Shir Khan started Exploited Records in his home city in 2007, and has since remixed the likes of Evil Nine and Bonde do Role as well as producing his own material. Exploited Records now plays host to some wide-ranging and innovative electronic talent – including Adam Sky and Mowgli – and its artists have been receiving numerous supportive spins from the likes of 2ManyDJs, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan and Diplo.

Accordingly, Khan’s mix for Clash – as well as the upcoming ‘Exploited’ compilation itself – is a seamless melting pot of electro-disco-krunk-tech-glitch-basement-funk that simply can’t fail to please even the most discerning ears.

Highlights here are plentiful, but include a typically superb bleep-hop Modeselektor remix of a track by fellow Berliner artist Siriusmo, and some ‘proper’ house (IE of the dirty, acidic variety), courtesy of innovative production/DJ duo Zoo Brazil. Not to be missed, at any cost."

le hammond inferno almost played FIB Benicassim festival... but then the storm came!

it could have been our biggest Benicasssim show ever, but then Nature turned against us... and we couldn't play.
okay, there was quite a breeze all day, but when the huge fire next to the entrance of the festival started (see the video and listen to Paul Weller singing about love in the background...), it all began to go horribly wrong. The wind became a storm (or something much worse) and during Paul Weller's set around 21:00 (after playing Jam's "Eton Rifles") the big stage was shaking so much that somebody came onstage and made the band run from it. That pretty much was it. The storm got bigger and bigger, there was a scary amount of panic all around, because all kinds of things were breaking down and everything was about to fly away (and i mean even the big tents) and we had this horrible feeling (crammed in the open air backstage cause everybody had to escape out of the tents for safety reasons) that something really bad could happen anytime... Fortunately it didn't.
Some hours later it was clear, that there was no way the festival would go on that day and the organizers had to make an announcement that the friday was cancelled.
Actually the only reason why the 30.000 mainly english visitors didn't riot big time was the announcement of the mayor of the village Benciassim that the bars in the town would stay open the whole night. Clever bastard!
Last really poor thought: there were 40.000 people camping on the site. there was hardly a tent left on the camping area after the storm... Imagine!

fire chaos:

Next day we flew over to Melt, who also suffered some bad wheather moments on friday and played a really great explosion-set on sunday evening. Thanks god (or whoever...)!

Malente's PalmsOut Summer Mix

This time it's not "Get on the floor and shake your body", it's "Get your barbe going and have some beers". When PalmsOut asked me for a special summer mix I instantly thought of the summer mixtapes I did when school holidays were coming up and a trip to greece or spain was planned with some friends.

With the PalmsOut mix I wanted to catch the spirit of these old tapes I recorded. Tapes containing music of all genres, cause all of your buddys have a slightly different taste in music. Tapes that give you a good time with beautiful, exciting and sometimes shocking music. Tapes that leave you be at one time and demand your attention at the other. Tapes like friends. Like those tapes we listened to over and over again while sitting at our tents or on the beach and having some beers.

In this blog thing we are in everything revolves around the dancefloor, the hype, the noise. I want to give you people what you missed, maybe without even knowing it: Music

like I said elesewhere: Music Forever

The Jungle Brothers - Straight out the Jungle

I was supposed to do some serious work yesterday, but instead I got stuck at Youtube.
From watching videos from "Bad Brains", "Andreas Dorau" to "The Sonics", "Kraze" to "Digital Underground" and "Del tha funkee Homosapien" - I got myself the whole repertoire of classic teenage Shir Khan-disco. Here is one of my favourite Hip Hop-Club-Jams: The Jungle Brothers - Straight out the Jungle.
