Malente feat. Knixx - Rock Me Amadeus

Yes I haven't being posting candy bars for weeks. But know this: it wasn't me being lazy. My stupid Macbook died on me.

NIGHTMARE

... as my backup is in Germany and I'm still touring Australia. What makes it even worse is that I backed up approximately 3 month ago. I've lost a fair bit of work, music, layouts, edits and many contacts.

But there are good things in life. For example the cover of Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus" I did with Knixx for "Rewind2" the buffet libre DJ's coverproject. I shoudl have named it "Sambadeus"

You read all about the "Rewind2" thing anyway so I won't bore you with details. Better you read everything about Falco. So much for now. I hate Internet Cafes!!

There is also a nice little interview with me here:

Zomby - Strange Fruit

Not a new track, but still a grower on me. I bought the Vinyl a while ago and already featured it a few times in my radioshow. It just has this incredible fusion of electronica, techno and dubstep and when Housemeister dropped it yesterday in my show I just thought like DAMN I have to dig out that record again and play it all over the place.

JACK TENNIS - Chicas And Rebels

I did it again! Get this brandnew funky little thing by clicking the link and rock da house with it. Yeah.
And don't miss Jack Tennis & DJ Supermarkt together with the Acid Kids friday at Suite 15 (Regensburg). Looking forward to another awesome night in bavaria! Weisswurst here we come!

Lorenz Rhode - A Little Something

If you like Siriusmo, you probably might like Lorenz Rhode too. Lorenz Rhode did a superb remix for Ben Mono's "Hit The Bit"-Single and also released a cool P-Funk-Cutup-Houserecord on Compost. Now he's back with his "Motor Cortex"-EP on Exploited.Lorenz himself describes the style of his record like this:"Think one part Electro Funk, one part 80's synthesizer Megalomania, one part old school House music, a Soul feel, occasional Krautrock or J-Pop glimpses and a certain weirdness. Or if you prefer name dropping: Rick James dating Chaka Khan, dancing to Daft Punk and Technotronic, making sweet love to a Stevie Wonder ballad, when suddenly a group of German robots and a Yellow Magic Orchestra come rushing into the hotel suite and... they all decide to go to France instead."
There is a rumour he will do his first live-gig ever at our Berlin Battery-Party in February together with Metronomy.
To be confirmed! Our friend and VJ of our Berlin Battery Partys "ULTRAMOODEM" made a nice new Videosnippet for Lorenz.
Here is a free track from Lorenz Rhode's "Motor Cortex"-EP.

Shir Khan's Vinyl Collection Part1 Ripped (23 Tracks)

Once in a while I digitalize some of my Vinyls. This collection here is perfect for a warm-up-set. From the supercool "Lotterboys"-Tune that was only included on the "Fun"-Compilation, to those mad Ragga-HipHop-Booties "Bomb", to Soul-Punk-funk from "A Certain Ratio", to my favourite Disco Edits from "Betty Botox", to early Acid-House-Breakbeat-Jungle-Ragga-Garage ala "Rebel Mc feat. Tenor Fly", to Gommas dopest release from "Leroy Hangover", and Todd Terjes superb edit of "Kraftwerk", or Dj Icons cheesy version of "Magnum". Its all here. Right now to me - my Vinyl-collection has become a bit of my secret since Blog-House got so boring and its everywhere the same tracks. Grab some of my private collection - I am gonna share this one here with you now. I am sure there is tracks in that havent been around as mp3s yet.

it can't get much better than tonight with this line-up...
so see you there!

Me My Head - White Lights (Shadow Dancer Remix / Malente Re-Edit)

This is how Digitalism's fridge looks like when they're playing the big festivals. Thanks for showing us Isi. But why haven't I told you earlier? Well, I was busy playing. On my little 5 week Australia tour the two summadayze festivals in Melbourne and especially the one in Perth (where these fotos are from) have been the highlight so far.
Incredible lineup. I played alongside Boys Noize, Switch, Digitalism (live), Busy P and DJ Mehdi, who's showing me how to use the mixer ;) on the photo belowIt was a beautiful day with great music, great people and it was a lot of fun to meet and hang with these guys. The atmosphere in the Hot Barbecue tent (pay attention to the sausage above the stage) was phenomenal.
Especially when Digitalism performed and Busy P & Mehdi played to finish the thing off. For the last 30 minutes all the artists where dancing on stage having a good time. I didn't know that Switch was such an awesome dancer... impressing. This is how fetsivals should be.
Even if you haven't read the interview with him on Discodust yet: I know you guys know that Boys Noize Alex is not only a nice guy, but one of the worlds best DJs, has great taste in music and is releasing all the Shadow Dancer original material. What you didn't know till now is how my re-edit of Shadow Dancer's fabulous Me My Head remix sounds like. Go ahead and get to know now.

a compilation of weird & mellow 2008 pop by dj supermarkt

...same procedure as last year! I handpicked some of my favorite songs of 2008 and they should all add up to a perfect soundtrack to a nice lazy sunday afternoon on your couch. Musically - as usual - it is all life-changing, unusual pop music, a bit electronic, a bit folky, but with a small disco-itch, completely obscure as well as well known. I would describe the vibe of all these songs "warm", not the worst thing for a period, where people in the south of France are freezing to death...
Well, simply said, this are some of the tracks that made me LIVE & BREATHE & SURVIVE 2008. Maybe the music inspires you, too. I hope so.

Artists included are Breakbot, Single, Plugs, James Yuill, Metronomy, Bertrand Burgalat/Robert Wyatt, Of Montreal, Esser, Kotchy, Chairlift, Air France, Peter Fox, Gonzales, Jamie Lidell, Friendly Fires, Mr. Hudson.

(oh, if you look for the actual tracklist, look at the comments below... ;-) i guess you know why...)

JACK TENNIS - My Highlights 2008 (more list shit...!)

As you can see, I've analyzed 2008 through my special music-glasses. And what can I see? Blog-House everywhere, the whole Berlin Battery crew is tried of that kind of sound. During the year we tried to figure out something new, a banging, danceable sound without playing fidget stuff all night long. And it worked so good! DJ SUPERMARKT: that was 2008 for me...! (list shit galore)

Well, hello, here it finally is, my end of the year 2008 list (nerd)-madness, that you all (well mainly the two people that asked me about it) waited for. It took a while, cause I can tell you, it's a hell of a lot of work (...but it's fun, i must admit).
In general it's the follow-up to last years list-shit 2007. Here is how it works: I am always chosing the music, that i REALLY listen to and love the most (or played in clubs), not the stuff, i think is "important" (like i see in many music-magazines). So - for example - the album of Hot Chip (a band i love) is not in my top twenty because i just can not listen to the whole thing. It's too quirky for me, but i love "ready for the floor", which is in my single-lists. I guess you get it...! (Sorry...)
The Cut Copy album for me is the best POP - album 2008 by miles, with great songwriting, ace melodies to sing along, amazing production by the DFA-guys and in the end a collection of 15 possible singles. I know it is successful (commercially) in many countries (it went to no.1 in the Australian charts), but somehow Warner Brothers (label in Germany) really fucked it up here, or forgot to release. It completely drowned. Can you beleive that the album is not included in any!! German music magazine end-of-the-year top 50. Hello? It is all over the internet, blogs etc... I guess it says a lot about the blocked horizon of German music-journalists. "The sky is the limit"... (seems the internet is somewhere hidden behind the sky...!)
Small change: I had to split up the favorite-club-tunes in two lists, because i LOVED (and tried to play) two diffrent styles of clubmusic this year: electro-disco (for smaller clubs and not overdrugged audiences) and fidget-banger-house (for spain...)!
And to finish i listed the bands, that i think (and hope from the bottom of my heart) should be big in 2009. Looking at my "big in 2008"-list of last year i have to admit that my ability to forsee the future is not too bad: i listed Duffy, Vampire Weekend, Crookers, Friendly Fires, Late Of The Pier, Hervé a.o. But, on the other hand, what ever happened to Scouting For Girls, Mitchell Brothers...
I hope you enjoy these lists as much as i enjoyed doing them, and of course feel free to tell me what you think about it (and who i forgot...).
And - of course - in the next days i will upload my traditional "best of 2008"-compilation for you...

And here is my favorite song of 2008. I posted it already some time ago and it is probably the most downloaded track of berlin battery 2008 (more than 3500 downloads only on z-share). So it looks like maybe you sometimes agree on my musical taste... As far as i know this song still is unreleased (it legally spread through the internet only)... wow, how cool is that?! Thank you Friendly Fires!

BAGGY LEGGINS - Run Da Roses (Fools Gold Booty)

It's really difficult to add something great to "Fools Gold" by The Stone Roses, because it's so fucking good anyway! Here the guys from Baggy Leggins (no clue, who they are... yes! I love it, they don't even have a myspace-site) have cut the track to pieces and then added some Hip Hop vocals from RUN DMC & DAS EFX ("real Hip Hop") and "BANG", there you have a track that will destroy any decent party in a second.
This track is only the b-side of a 7 Inch. Tha A-side is a really weird and mindblowing booty of a lazy Ethopian tune called "GIRMA BEYEN" redone with heavy b-boy beats and crazy bass. Get it (while it lasts) at Juno.

the picture is the original artwork of the Stone Roses 12". Like all fantastic Stone Roses artworks it was painted by John Squire himself, the guitarist of The Roses. Below is a link to his fine arts. (listening to the music he released since he left The Roses, he should really stick to the art...)

JAMES YUILL (in Berlin...)

2009 is here and we have a nice start for it (for you):
Young Londoner JAMES YUILL has definetly done one of the top albums 2008. "turning down water for air" mixes the folky melancholy breeziness of Nick Drake with the electronic playfullness of Hot Chip. And still you can dance to it! Imagine a very talented guy - high on candy - locked in his mother's bedroom with a guitar and a laptop, playing around with sweet and innocent acoustic melodies and adding some darkly introspective electronic magic. He is signed on Übercool pop-label Moshi Moshi and together with them (plus Stockholm's wunderkinder-duo Lo-Fi-Fnk) we will have a ball on saturday this weekend, january 10th, in Scala/Berlin at our first berlin battery party in 2009:
