TECHNICS STOPS TURNTABLE PRODUCTION!

“It is a sad day today but due to low sales globally in analogue turntables a decision to stop production has been made on Technics Turntables,” Panasonic spokesman Ian North explained

Turntable manufacturers Technics will be stopping production on their universally loved Technics 1200s and Technics 1210s. In a statement re-posted on dance board Global Hardstyle, the company behind the production of the Technics turntables Panasonic announced that they would cease the manufacture of Technics turntables in February next year, citing an increasing decline in sales as the motivation behind the line’s demise.

And there it goes!

Sigh! So many beloved things fading away...

Record stores are closing, and along with that a huge source of inspiration and exchange / digital-only releases are the most common nowadays, so no artwork anymore / no long-awaited albums, just quickly released digital EPs / kids with laptops and no musical experience playing the Beatport top 40ies for free AND get booked ...

I can't say that I am a purist and all against digital and internet - in fact, I very much love it to a certain degree (I got Traktor and I buy from Beatport aswell, also I check blogs, obviously ;), but I am certain that when it comes to musical appreciation and understanding, I would not be near where I am today if it wasn't for the "oldschool education" in record shops and the fact that I really had to choose which 12" I really wanted to buy cause it was expensive!

Or am I just getting old?

You may painfully regret, only to realise that it is too late.

It's interesting to see just how pervasive virtual memory has become in our lives. It seems like everywhere I turn, I see something with a card slot or USB jack, haha. I guess it makes sense though, considering how much more afforable memory has become lately...

Gahhhhh... who am I to complain. I can't make it through a day without my R4 / R4i!
