Herve - Cheap Thrills

To me Herve (aka JOSHUA HARVEY,aka part of SPEAKER JUNK, aka THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTAL, aka part of DEAD SOUL BROTHERS aka VOODOO CHILLI)is still the hottest producer and remixer at the moment. This one (CHEAP THRILLS) is from his long awaited CHEAP THRILLS EP on DUBSIDED.....COMING SOON! yes - it uses some kind of a Michael Jackson-Sample....and one of the additional tracks "Rocky Raver" will include a sample you can already expect from its title.....I must confess that CHEAP THRILLS was the strongest track on the weekend when Rob played it in Room3 at Fabric. Everybody going nuts to this one. Lovin that combination of Fidget, Mash-up, Funk and Baltimore....just like lots of songs in one track.

Friendly Fires - on board (nightmoves rmx)

love these guys. It's not the first time, that you can listen to them on berlinbattery. But this time it's a smooth electrofunk rmx of the nightmoves. Top ace! this is taken of their new remix 12 Inch with two other great remixes (a.o. Mock & Toof). buy all their stuff. they are one of the best new bands around!

dj supermarkt - butterfly collector#01-mix (70 min., 60 mb)

this is a special one! there is so much really good pop-music around nowadays, that it happens a lot, that you miss something extraordinary. here are 17 new tracks from bands from all over the planet, that i wish NOT to be missed. These tracks make my life a better place, why shouldn't they mean something to you? musically this is all about...well..twisted pop music. Imagine a land somewhere between Beck, Steely Dan, Blur, Prefab Sprout, Funboy 3, Nick Drake and Flaming Lips. Haven't visited this land, ever? Don't think it exists? Well, try it out. This is pure quality (in my humble ears) and every single band on this Mix deserves stardom in the near future (actually i am quite sure, that some of them will actually make it!). i kinda tried to make this mix sound like music that you listen to in a fantasy supermarket (sorry, yes, it's really stupid). The bits and pieces inbetween the songs are taken from a record with "sounds from berlin in the year 1968". enjoy and discover this collection.

tracklist:
1- republic of loose - comeback girl
2- stuntmen - you're the best find
3- lightspeed champion - galaxy of the lost
4- dylan donkin - make a choice
5- hey hey my my - too much space
6- benny sings - coconut
7- free blood - never hear surf music again
8- leon jean marie - scratch
9- the heavy - coleen
10- elmore judd - we float in time
11- friendly fires - strobelight
12- Olympus mons - ok on my own (fear of theydon rmx)
13- georgie james - need your needs
14- be be see - smart but casual
15- Oh no ono - shock of the real
16- Middleman - when you're in love
17- adele - my hometown

INFADELS - love like semtex (saint pauli rmx)

Hamburg's best kept secret saint pauli did this remix for Wall Of Sound act "The Infadels" some time ago in an official remix contest. And...they won with this electro-funk monster! but then nothing happended. no presents, no cup, no drugs. Well. sounds like wall of sound! this is really great and it won for me, too. it is not released, so quite exclusive, and it is one of my most played tracks for some time now. they have another silly project simply called "Dj Adler Dj Team", and watch out for the mighty "noshitbutgeil"...

Modular party at cookies berlin (sat. oct. 27th)

hi amigos,

in case you are in berlin tomorrow, there is only one party to go. my two most mindblowing labels of NOW! join for a Berlin party: modular (home of avalanches, presets, cut copy a.o.) & bang gang (Kim, van she a.o.) have left down under to show us what a harke is. I have not deejayed once in the last years without playing at least on e 12 Inch of these two freak-dance-pop-labels. And their partys are infamous... They come with tons of djs from Australia (Bang Gang djs, Ajax, Jaime Doom, Gud da hootrat) and London (Modular DJs, Greco Roman Soundsystem, Raf Daddy). plus Maral Salmassi and Signore Conny COOP himself. we will be there!

le hammond inferno - margret evening fashion

lots of poeple keep asking us about this one. it is really hard to find, so here you go: we did this in 1999 together with the dj-duo Copasetic (Germo Robra and Martin Petersdorf/fritz radio). It's hard to say, what kind of music this is. Kind of Dancehall meets electropop. It actually sounds quite modern nowadays. And it bounces really well and groovy. Holger found this sixties flexi disc of a german fashion company called Margret Evening Fashion, which we sampled!

"when album covers attack"

some of you might have seen this already. But i keep watching it over and over again. It is my favorite youtube video! This is amazing in its true sense. watch what you can do with album covers... if you have shitloads of fantasy. It really surprises me sometimes what people do for fun. this must have taken a year in the making... Thanks www.uglypictures.us

SUPERMAYER - the art of letting go

Kompakt on berlinbattery? ohlala! This is a great song from the Kompakt-maestros themselves. Not minimal at all. Cool but funky, yet full of joy, dirty charm and FUN! Remembers me in the most positive way of the highlights of WHIRLPOOL PRODUCTIONS. The song sounds like the two enjoyed themselves doing this (and the album too, which i really recommend you to BUY!). Enjoy...actually one of the sentiments i am really missing in 99% of Minimal music. Well, i do not play a lot of Kompakt-12 Inches in my set (except maybe Rex The Dog and the mighty Ferenc - yes Sir i can hardcore), but this sounds like the end of minimal dullness. I met Michael Mayer once in Benicassim in a shuttle and he is a really nice guy. we talked about...well deejaying with vinyl, what do you guess! we were both a bit pissed off by other djs playing with CDRs and not supporting artists that they play by buying at least a tiny part of their music. Well.. you know how old people are when they meet, full of idealism etc. In general i am no friend at all of the minimal idea (remember my first dj name was MAXIMAL) but i have shitloads of respect to Kompakt as a trademark in dance music and the empire they built on pure quality.

Carmen - Schlaraffenlandcarmen

German Retrofuturism at its best. "Schlaraffenland, Schlaraffenland. Wie süß ist deine starke Hand." Punk Funk somewhere between Pforzheim and Osnabrück in the year of 1982. This is not New York - this is No Wave from the german province. Naive Tom Tom Club Girl-Pop meets Teutonic Clunk-Funk. Taken from her only album "Puppe aus Glas". Carmen Gaspar was a former member of the Marinas and later became the background singer of Andreas Dorau. I love this tune so much. Its on heavy rotation - always! Shir Khan.

famous Boogaloo club revived for one night

on saturday 13th, famous Berlin Acid Jazz/Downbeat/breakbeat club BOOGALOO is taking over the 103 club. boogaloo was situated, where the shitty Sage Club is now (inside Heinrich Heine U-station). in 1992 berlin was very much ruled by a new sound called Techno (remember?) and the opening of Boogaloo marked a change to more musically openminded clubs. Here people danced to Acid Jazz (Roots, Galliano, Corduroy played there live), Dancehall, Hip Hop (when there were no gangstaz around) and ..well... we (le hammond inferno) had their first residency EVER here. we played in the basement (size 30 qm) where people had to be dragged out after 15 minutes to breath air again. It was great! the programm features a.o. Oli Massive, Barney Millah, Sebel & Apollo, Der Lächelnde Schamane, Dj Minsky and Dj Supermarkt(103 club, Falckensteinstrasse 47, 10997 Berlin)
